Bury Toy Appeal

Christmas should be a time of joy, but for many families facing financial hardship, buying presents can place an impossible strain on already stretched budgets.

Each year, The Salvation Army, working in partnership with Churches Together in Bury, collects new, unwrapped toys and gifts for local children and young people who might otherwise receive very little at Christmas. The presents are carefully sorted by age and distributed to families referred by schools, nurseries, social services and other community organisations.

This year, collection points will once again be located at The Rock and Mill Gate shopping centres in Bury. We invite members of the public, churches, businesses and community groups to support the appeal and help bring some Christmas joy to families across our borough.

Suitable gifts include:

  • Dolls, cuddly toys and action figures

  • Books, puzzles and board games

  • Art, craft and educational sets

  • Sports equipment

  • Toiletries, accessories and gift sets for teenagers

Please donate only new and unwrapped items. This enables volunteers to choose an appropriate present for each child and allows parents or carers to wrap the gifts themselves.

Referrals will open in September. Schools, nurseries and other organisations supporting local families will be invited to submit referrals using a form that will be available here shortly.

By giving a gift or supporting the appeal, you can help ensure that more children and young people across Bury have something special to open on Christmas morning.
